The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats
Once upon a time, there was a mother goat who had seven little kids. They lived happily together in a small cottage near a beautiful forest. One day, as the mother goat prepared to go out to gather food, she warned her children, “Be careful! Do not open the door for anyone, especially not for the big bad Wolf. He is very cunning!”
The little goats promised their mother they would be careful. After she left, they played happily in their home. However, they heard a knock at the door soon after their mother had gone.
“Who is it?” asked one little goat.
“It’s me, your mother,” said the Wolf sweetly. “I’ve brought you some delicious food.”
But the clever little goats remembered their mother’s warning. “Show us your paw!” they called out.
The Wolf’s paw was black as soot from his sneaky ways, so they knew it wasn’t their mother. “You are not our mother!” they shouted.
The Wolf was furious but determined to trick them. He went to a nearby mill and covered his paw with white flour to make it look like their mother’s. Then he returned to the cottage and knocked again.
“Who is it?” asked the little goats again.
“It’s me, your mother,” said the Wolf softly. “I’ve brought you some food.”
“Show us your paw!” they insisted.
This time, when he showed them his white paw, they were fooled. They opened the door wide, and in rushed the big bad Wolf!
“Where are you, my little ones?” he growled as he searched around.
Terrified, the seven little goats scattered in all directions to hide from him. Some hid under the table, others behind the curtains, while one even squeezed into a cupboard.
But clever little Gretel managed to think quickly. She saw that her brothers were in danger and whispered her plan to them: “We must work together!”
As soon as they heard the Wolf snoring loudly after he had eaten some of their brothers, Gretel led her siblings out of their hiding spots. They crept quietly outside to find their mother.
When they reached her in the forest, they told her what had happened. Their mother was horrified but also proud of their bravery.
“Let’s go back together,” she said firmly. “We will teach that wolf a lesson!”
With courage in their hearts, they returned home, where they found the Wolf sleeping soundly on their bed. The mother goat quickly devised a plan.
She gathered stones from outside while her children kept watch. When they were ready, they filled up a large sack with stones and carefully placed it over the sleeping Wolf.
As soon as he awoke with a start from his slumber, he felt heavy and confused by his surroundings. When he tried to jump up from bed, he stumbled under the weight of all those stones!
“Help! What is happening?” he cried out as he fell over.
The seven little goats cheered with delight as their mother chased him away from their home forever! From that day on, they learned to be cautious but also clever when facing dangers.
Moral Of The Story
“Being cautious can protect you from danger.” This story teaches us that listening to our parents’ advice can help protect us from harm.
