The Seven Ravens
Once upon a time, there was a man who had seven sons but longed for a daughter. After many years of hoping, his wish came true when he finally had a little girl. However, he was so overjoyed that he forgot to give his sons proper attention.
One day, the father went on a journey and left his sons in charge. While he was away, the boys decided to play a trick on their little sister. They told her that they would turn into ravens if she did not fetch them some water from the well.
Feeling frightened and confused, the little girl ran to fetch water but accidentally dropped the jug. When she returned home empty-handed, her brothers laughed at her. In anger, she cried out, “I wish you would turn into ravens!”
To her shock, her words came true! In an instant, her brothers transformed into seven black ravens and flew away. Heartbroken by what she had done, the girl searched for them but could not find them anywhere.
Determined to rescue her brothers, she set off on a quest. She wandered through forests and fields until she met a wise old woman. “Please help me,” she pleaded. “My brothers have become ravens because of my words.”
The old woman nodded knowingly and said, “To break the spell, you must collect seven special feathers from each raven while they are flying high in the sky.”
With renewed hope, the girl climbed to the highest mountain, where she could see her brothers flying above. As they soared through the air, she called out to them. “Brothers! I am here! I will save you!”
The ravens heard her voice and circled back down to her. “Sister! We are trapped in this form!” they cried.
With great determination, she reached up and plucked one feather from each raven as they flew close enough. As she collected all seven feathers, she felt their magic fill her heart with courage.
Finally, with all seven feathers in hand, she returned to the old woman who guided her on how to break the spell. “You must weave these feathers into a cloak,” said the old woman.
The girl worked tirelessly day and night until she finished weaving the cloak from the feathers. When it was complete, she put it on and called out to her brothers once more.
“Brothers! Come back to me!”
As soon as they heard her voice again, they swooped down from the sky. With joy in their hearts, they transformed back into their human forms!
“Thank you for saving us!” they exclaimed as they embraced their sister tightly.
From that day forward, they promised never to let anger or jealousy come between them again. They learned that family bonds are strong and should always be cherished.
